The Caspian Apartments in Delray Beach is a beautiful, modern building - with a lot of problems.
For the past 3 years, tenants have had ongoing complaints about their air conditioners and extensive mold. The problem is apparently a building wide mold issue affecting many units. They had to tear out drywall and rebuild units, only to have the mold return to the same areas.
The maintenance guy was an angry and difficult man to deal with. One of the problems causing these mold issues was using incorrect a/c filters. The filter was getting sucked up into the housing and all the air was bypassing it. When this was pointed this out to him, he said we use the same filter in every apartment and no one else has a problem. However, lot's of tenante were getting sick.
The property manager from the Greystar Corporate office, Jeremy Scholl, has a reputation of being very unprofessional, and overall, a complete jerk. He is non responsive to any complaints. He just doesn't care. They have had a lot of turnover with the local managers.
>> WATER IS FLOODING INTO THE BUILDING <<
The roof drains overflow during a storm, sending water onto the balcony and then partially draining into the cracks between the patio and the building.
This was reported this multiple times but the tenants were advised that it wasn’t a problem and to not worry about it. This may be the cause of some of the mold in other apartments.
Also, their elevator certificated had been expired for over six months.
So, it seems that Greystar does a very poor job of safely maintaining their properties.
Caspian Apartments had gone through three different on-site managers recently. Apparently, they didn’t feel good about being there either.
Greystar is a very large, well-capitalized company. I would expect that they would be able to provide safe living conditions for their residents. Instead, they have mold everywhere and lots of sick tenants, including children. Multiple attempted contacts with someone other than Jeremy Scholl have gone unanswered.
